Komal has worked at NYC Health + Hospitals since 2019, where she has built and expanded Care Experience programs. In her current role, she provides strategic oversight and guidance on patient experience and employee engagement for the health system, working closely with enterprise-wide and service-line-specific Care Experience Councils. She has also held interim Care Experience leadership roles at two hospitals within the health system, further honing her expertise in aligning health system strategy to local operations and tactical programming, through data-informed decisions. Komal is passionate about engaging multidisciplinary teams across the system to enhance the holistic, person-centered experience in an equitable and inclusive manner. An Industrial-Organizational Psychology practitioner by trade, she has previously worked on enterprise-wide culture change and transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing the employee experience in both private healthcare and international civil service organizations. Komal is driven to create win-win situations for both the workforce and the organization, integrating experience insights and improvement science through initiatives like the Care Improvement Contest, which received a Gage Award Honorable Mention at the AEH VITAL 2023 conference. She has co-authored publications on patient experience trends, particularly in the telehealth setting, and is a graduate of the 2023 cohort of America’s Essential Hospitals’ Essential Women’s Leadership Academy. She has represented the health system as a speaker and presenter at several nationwide and global forums including Press Ganey’s annual Human Experience conferences, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s [IHI] World Forum, as well as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s [AHRQ] Roundtable on Person-Centered Care Planning for Persons with Multiple Chronic Conditions. Most recently, Komal was also named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2026 list of 56 Hospital and Health System CXOs to Know.
